Joe Lukasik is internationally known as a jazz clarinetist. He began
to play professionally in and around New York City at age 13, where
he arranged and performed on a collection of polkas for Everest Records.
Joe moved to Denver in the late 1960's where he was hired to perform
regularly with Horace Henderson and soon earned a distinguished reputation
as a clarinetist of the highest order. He has been an active teacher
and spent a number of years on the faculty of Metropolitan State College
of Denver and The University of Colorado at Denver. Joe's clarinet
choir arrangements have been performed internationally, and he is the
author of a handbook in the art of improvisation entitled Almost Making
Music. His many performances have included jazz festivals, symphony
concerts, clarinet symposiums, educational conventions, intimate recitals,
and well as guest appearances as a clinician and lecturer. Joe has
appeared with many jazz notables and his recordings display a vast
scope of musical diversity. |
